
GRIEF SUPPORT GROUPS
Family Grief Support Groups
- Eight
week educational and supportive workshops for
children/teens/parents/guardians
4:30-5:30p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 225 E. Elm Monroe, MI 48162.
- Groups
meet winter, spring, summer and fall and includes the following:
Checkers and Dotty ( ages 4-6) - Through
storytelling, sharing and activities, preschool children are guided through the
grief experience.
Climbing
Gabby’s Ladder (ages 7-9)- School age children are guided through the
grief experience into recovery.
Risen Heart the Light Within
(Pre-teens and Teens-two groups)- Using candles, music and
memorializing rituals, teens and pre-teens come to terms with their grief.
Parent’s Guardians Group-Adults
are educated about the grief experience of children and their own personal
bereavement.
Life Goes On
- An afternoon support group (meets from 4:30-5:30
p.m.) for grieving adults.
- Provides ongoing support;
meets the first Thursday of every
month at Gabby’s Ladder.
Grief Recovery Program for
Children and Adults with Special Needs
- One-on-One
counseling 6-week program that includes education and support.
- Offered
when needed at Gabby’s Ladder.
Beyond Grieving

Educational and supportive group for all adults;
meets the third Wednesday of every
month, at Gabby’s Ladder from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Call for more information.

Focus is on healing and rebuilding one’s life
following the death of a loved one.
Untimely Tears
- Ongoing
grief support group for parents and grandparents who have experienced a
miscarriage or death of a baby or toddler.
- Provides
sensitive and compassionate support; meets the first Thursday of every month, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at
Gabby’s Ladder.
Survivors of Suicide
Workshop and Ongoing Group
- Ongoing
Grief Support Group meets the third
Tuesday of every month from 6:30p.m. to 8:00p.m.
- The
group sensitively provides education and support for those who are left
behind.
The Valley Walkers
- Ongoing grief support group for parents and grandparents who
have lost a teen/young adult child.
- Provides
sensitive and compassionate support; call for more information.
Alzheimer’s Support Group
Sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, Gabby’s Ladder, and
Mercy Memorial Hospital System.
- Adult
group for family/caregivers of those who are experiencing the effects of
Alzheimer’s.
- Meets the third Monday of every month at Christ Lutheran Church (225 E.
Elm Monroe) from 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m.
In addition to the grief support groups, Gabby’s Ladder provides the
following services:
- Short term grief counseling for children,
teens, adults and families.
- Suicide Depression Prevention programs
for teens and pre-teens in the schools.
- Individual classroom grief support in the
schools.
- In-services to help teachers work with
grieving and/or dying children in the classrooms.
- Crisis Intervention support for the
community when a tragedy occurs.
- Bereavement Lending library for the
public.
All groups are professionally
facilitated.
